2014 Springton Hills Eden Valley Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Unwooded chardonnay went through a huge phase in the early and mid 2000's. People seeking a Chablis type of wine, but were quite often left unsatisfied with what was being dished up. Well, thankfully, this throws a lot of those wines on their head.

This has rock melon like white stonefruit undertones. Slot in some lovely typical Eden Valley minerality, and you get the picture. Its the antithesis of bold, oak driven malolactic fermentation style Chardonnay we see a lot of in Adelaide Hills and Margaret River chardies. This is a Chardonnay for the Sauvignon Blanc/Riesling drinkers amongst us. And sensational Value under $20.

Winemaker's Notes

The rough, rocky country of the Eden Valley belies its ability to produce wines of great complexity and finesse and our Chardonnay is no exception.

This hand picked Chardonnay shows fine varietal characteristics with a distinctive mineral acidity typical of white wines from the Eden valley region.
