Cracka Review

The Storm Ridge wines come from the boutique winery Badger’s Brook based in the Yarra Valley. If there’s one thing we love then it’s Yarra Pinot with its light body and intoxicating perfume. Plum and black fruits mingle with earth and spice as well as an exciting savoury edge. The palate is vibrant and lifted with plum, black cherry and spice. Silky, balanced and long it makes an ideal pairing with mushroom risotto.

Winemaker's Notes

The nose is a combination of plums and blackberries with a hint of smoked bacon character in the background from maturation in older French oak.

The front palate is rich and full flavoured, showing mixed berry flavours and highlighting the seductive flavours of stewed plums.

The Middle palate provides more opulent black cherry / sweet spicy plum flavours.

The back palate finishes long and silky and with gentle fruit tannins. Should improve in the bottle for the next three to four years.

2014 Storm Ridge Pinot Noir

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Bright purple-crimson; the fragrant bouquet has the red and black cherry and plum plum fruits that also drive the palate; not particularly complex, but has good varietal character and balance, and will gain complexity over the next few years. Keenly priced for Yarra Valley Pinot Noir.

Clean, fresh, light to medium-bodied; spice, cherry and plum; not forced, fair length.

James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; forest and spice aromas come first, then plum; the palate has slightly sweeter fruit and less structure, being fruit-driven and ready right now. One hundred per cent Yarra Valley grapes, not estate-grown.
