2014 Tarrawarra Estate Yarra Valley Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This lovely little pinot shows lots of ripe cherry and strawberry fruits on the nose, together with whiffs of soft spice and savouriness. The palate is medium-bodied and plush with more red fruited flavours, hints of toastiness, fine tannins, and a dry, cherry, savoury-edged finish. It would be great with game birds, and is amazing value!

Winemaker's Notes

Made with the same approach as the Reserve wine, this wine is produced from a different selection of fruit parcels and barrel combinations.

The wine displays lifted raspberry aromas, with a hint of earthiness and subtle oak. The flavours combine bright fruit with fine tannins, the palate weight reflects the warmer days, while the acid balance is derived from the cooler nights.

Alc/vol: 13.2%

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2014 Vintage) says
It just goes to show that sheer drinkability and waftier notions of complexity don't have to be mutually exclusive of one another. This has series notes of wood smoke, mineral, leaf matter and baked pastry and yet its raspberried, cherried, sweet-sour juiciness keeps the mood light. You can't go wrong.
