Cracka Review

Bugalugs is not actually the latest hot celebrity child’s name but a term of endearment for something near and dear. Tim Smith is a highly decorated winemaker who has spent the last two decades making wine for some of Australia’s most respected wineries and now under his own label. This is an easy drinking Barossa Shiraz that’s packed with upfront fruit, and a really great texture that makes it a sure fire winner with most red meat dishes.

Expert Reviews

Wine Companion (2014 Vintage) says
It's not possible to have a cacophony of flavours but it certainly feels as though this wine has a party going on. Red liquorice, black forest cake, squished blackberries and spice notes thrown about like confetti. Hard to resist.

Gary Walsh (2014 Vintage) says
Fresh crunchy style of Barossa Shiraz, though still black fruited to its core. Carries some fresh dill and vanilla perfume (oak, though it’s not oaky as such), spice and a little of that typical savoury flavour you might call ‘Barossa coal dust’. Juiciness, light grainy tannin, pretty good finish. Easy to drink. Thumbs up.

Campbell Mattinson (2015 Vintage) says
Spot on. Ripe berried fruit laced with complex meaty/peppery flavours. For texture and flow of flavour this takes some beating. It feels polished and sure as it rolls through the mouth too. Can't go wrong here.

Here’s a wine where you can drink like a king, on a peasant’s budget. Hits Barossa Shiraz 101 for six. Dark spicy fruit, subtle earthiness, pretty nougat and vanilla oak. Medium to full bodied, clean acidity, lush but grainy tannin, spice, toast and chocolate richness, and a slurry of tannin on a good long finish. Spot on.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Chocolaty fruit nose layered with coconut-like oak, and big, powerful palate loaded with plum fruit flavours, coconut oak and firm tannins.
