2014 Torres Sangre de Toro

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Ah Spanish style! This is a rather typical meaty Spanish red really - produced from Garnacha and Carignana (Carignan) blended together in a wonderfully rustic, pass-the-chorizo mid-weight style.

Winemaker's Notes

A fine wine, made from Garnacha and Cariñena.

Tasting note: Cherry red in colour. Fresh, expressive and intense red fruit aromas with a subtle nuance of oak ageing. Velvety on the palate.

Food pairing: Perfect with stews, game, meat paellas and traditional mountain cuisine. Serve at 18ºC.

Toasty oak and spicy red berry nose, which is echoed on the light palate.

There is a small stand in Barcelona's wonderful Las Ramblas market where you can buy a particular delicacy: the testicles of the bulls who were runners-up in their events the night before. Should a bull be successful, I suspect it's unlikely that you would find the matador's crown jewels for sale, or that they'd be considered any form of delicacy, except by said matador. This 'bull's blood' isn't exactly a delicacy either. But if you want a simple, earthy, easily gluggable cheapie—grab it by the... err, horns.
