2015 Ackerman Loire Valley Sauvignon

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

The sauv blancs of the Loire Valley are a little different to what we are used to out of Marlborough, but they still have plenty of characters you will recognise as pure sauv blanc. This offering from Ackerman is not a passionfruit bomb, but more citrus and gooseberry on the nose, with hints of green apples. The palate is lighter-bodied, clean, fresh and zesty, with a touch of steely minerality and a thirst-quenching finish. It's not a complicated wine, but it's certainly highly sipable on a warm day over lunch.

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Pale yellow colour with green hues

Nose: Intense bouquet of ripe pear drops and fresh primary fruit including apples and gooseberry. Very modern style aromatically and exotic nose

Palate: Aromas of fresh grapefruit, lime and passionfruit with a subtle minerality. Refreshing and mouth watering finish

Food pairing: It matches beautifully with oysters, shellfish, fishes, poultry and goat cheeses
