Cracka Review

This is the real deal. An Italian Pinot Grigio that’s as authentic as Pavarotti singing an aria. Italian Grigio like this is as crisp as starched linen and as dry as the desert. It’s great for quaffing with a range of foods including shellfish or chicken salad. Straight out of Veneto, this smells slightly floral with green notes. It’s fresh and crisp with a long palate and will reward once chilled and shared with like-minded white drinkers.

Winemaker's Notes

Straw yellow in colour. Light and delicate on the nose, characterised by a subtle elegant floral nuance followed by hints of golden delicious apples and distinctive vegetal notes. Dry and medium-bodied, the palate faithfully reflects the nose, being tangy and satisfying, while at the same time simple and exceedingly enjoyable.

Expert Reviews

Peter Forrestal (2007 Vintage) says
The Allegrini family's Corte Giara sources the grapes for this from the Veneto in north-eastern Italy, from the hills facing picturesque Lake Garda. This is a leap up in quality from the previous vintage: bright and fresh with intense savoury characters, good viscosity and a crisp dry finish. Classic pinot grigio. Imported by Negociants.

The Allegrini family's Corte Giara source this from the Veneto in north-eastern Italy from the hills facing picturesque Lake Garda. It is fresh, clean with savoury, pear-skin characters, mid-palate intensity and an ultra-dry finish. Imported by Negociants.

Angus Hughson (2006 Vintage) says
Italian Pinot Grigio is currently taking the world by storm with its light and easy drinking style and just a hint of the Mediterranean. The only problem is the wines are so often overpriced for their respective quality. But not this one ? fresh with delicate pear and apple flavours it is restrained alternative to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Ripe candied fruit aromas and a rich, honeyed citrus palate with sharp acidity to give it balance.
