2015 Battle of Bosworth Organic Preservative Free Shiraz McLaren Vale Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Like Shiraz? Don't like preservatives? Then roll up, for this is one of the most delicious preservative free reds out there, showcasing lovely juicy McLaren Vale Shiraz fruit flavours unadorned by oak. Ripe, plump and fun, this is nothing if not gluggable stuff.

Winemaker's Notes

The Battle of Bosworth Preservative Free Shiraz is our take on a Spanish 'Joven' style which refers to a wine that has been made with little or no oak-ageing and is designed to be drunk when young. Once again you might be hearing the BoB wheels heading off road onto a slightly different path, as our BoB PFS is not made using Spanish varieties, (such as Tempranillo or Grenache.) only SHIRAZ. A super vibrant black/ purple colour in the glass heralds a lively dark forest fruit and black cherry nose, as well as a lushness and hints of liquorice and spice. The wine has a rich, textural and even palate tied together with beautifully structured tannins. This is a medium to full-bodied style of wine.

Wine Companion (2016 Vintage) says
Organically grown. Unoaked. No preservatives added. Exuberant style of red with licorice and sweet blackberries bouncing through the palate. Like a jumpy castle of flavour. It works. Very well.

Jeremy Oliver (2009 Vintage) says
Its meaty, smoky complexity, more savoury and fine-grained nature and spicy floral perfume stamp this as a more contemporary McLaren Vale shiraz. Its faintly jammy bouquet of blackcurrants, dark plums, raspberries and cedar reveals a whiff of menthol, while its smooth, juicy palate of marginally sour-edged small berry/plum fruit is knit tightly with mocha oak and supple tannin, finishing with length and freshness, plus a note of licorice.
