2015 Berrigan Limestone Coast Classic White

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

We have another medal winning drop from Western Australian winemaker Dan Berrigan. With floral and stone fruit notes colliding gently with the tropical tones this blend is a delight on the palate and is the perfect match with pan-seared fish.

Winemaker's Notes

Introducing the Berrigan White Classic from the hidden regions of Robe and Mount Benson in South Australia.

What is a White Classic you ask? A Classic is a blend of 2 or more grape varieties and is produced to combine the individual flavours and character of each grape variety, in order to make a high quality wine of greater consistency and complexity.

“This particular White Classic is a blend of Pinot Gris (60%) and Sauvignon Blanc (40%) and both varieties excel in the cooler wine regions of the world such as that of Robe and Mt Benson. This is because the slower ripening experienced here allows the elegant floral and stone fruit flavours in the Pinot Gris, and the noticeably more lifted tropical flavours in the Sauvignon Blanc to gently accumulate in perfect harmony alongside the increasing sugar and phenolics in the grapes. The cooler days also slow the grape’s metabolism (and thus reduction) of organic acids, minimising the need for me to adjust the acidity in each wine to achieve balance.” Dan Berrigan, Winemaker.

The natural balance is found in all of our wines, and this classy little white is a great introduction to our ‘still’ wine collection and we really hope you enjoy its elegant and versatile nature.
