2015 Cantine Pra Soave Classico Superiore

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Cantine Pra are well-known for their outstanding Soave wines, made mostly from the native Garganega grape, and this is one of their top wines. Scents of lemons, almonds, ginger spice and jasmine florals waft out of the glass, and the palate is light to medium-bodied with delicate fruit flavours, zippy acidity, a quartzy minerally texture, and a long, poised finish. This would be great with a nice chicken panang.

Winemaker's Notes

Visual profile: Crystalline, straw-yellow, quite consistent.

Olfactory profile: Intense and well persisting, extremely delicate. Floral elements mingled with fresh sensations of apple and pear are amalgamated by a good mineral and aromatic herbs scent, with sage evidencing among them.

Taste profile: On the palate it confirms its fresh and mineral vein elegantly harmonised with the alcohol mellow note. Intense and persistent, it closes with a pleasant hint of almond aroma.

Culinary combinations: The evident acid vein makes it suitable to combine with fat and rich dishes, such as egg-based or creamy-based courses, but also with puff pastry, vegetable soups with egg noodles and legumes. Excellent in combination with fish.

Serving temperatures: 10 - 12˚C

Suggested glass: Tulip glass for white wine.

Andrew Graham (2009 Vintage) says
The original and still the best. Oyster shells, honey and rice. Underplayed palate has green, zingy fruit. Nicely layered and acid driven, with stone and green apple. Clean, long and all about simple fruit + salty texture.
