2015 Chaffey Bros Battle for Barrosa La Conquista! Temprani

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

What a lovely medium-bodied red this is! Made from tempranillo and grenache, it's a juicy, elegant style that shows abundant cherries on the nose, along with red berries and whiffs of chocolate. The palate is smooth and velvety, with a succulent core of red cherry flavours, fine but gentle tannins and a long, juicy finish, with a delicate lick of earthiness and spice in the tail. Great with nachos, tacos or some Italian sausages.

Winemaker's Notes

Cherry and cola aromas mingle with hints of chocolate and spicy florals. A dark yet luminous crimson colour hints at the rich semi-savoury dark cherry and cola palate that finishes with a hint of grenache red cherry juiciness.

Drink at your local too-cool-for-school laneway tapas bar or at home with rare lamb or homemade pizza.

Varieties: Tempranillo (66%), Grenache (30%), Graciano (4%)

Alc/vol: 13.5%

Campbell Mattinson (2015 Vintage) says
It’s a fiery blaze of flavour too. If you’ll allow me to suggest; this is money well spent. It’s smoky and sordid and jubey and twiggy, all at once; it spins you around like a Luna Park ride, the combination of sweetness/savouriness/smokiness/spiciness managed quite beautifully. One thing it most definitely is not: boring. And yet it’s immaculately clean to boot.

Wine Companion (2014 Vintage) says
Fresh, fruit-driven and perfumed. Seductive in a slippery, succulent way. Flavours of red berries and chocolate bullets. Dusty finish. In short, yum.
