Tyson Stelzer (2012 Vintage) says
“A celebration of spice,” proclaims the bottle, and this it is! Laced with white pepper, potpourri, curry and exotic spices of all kinds, it’s a tangy and crunchy style, with fine, textural, spicy tannins holding everything in place. Wonderful persistence and harmony make for an alluringly exotic and enticing wine that’s difficult to resist before it’s even been released

Strong purple-crimson; having survived the heavy rain at the end of Feb, the vines flourished in the fine, warm weather of Mar and Apr to produce shiraz of great depth and varietal character; black fruits, spice, pepper, licorice and sweet, fresh earth fill the senses.

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
A modern Rhône-inspired style whose sweet, heady and floral bouquet of blue and red flowers, cracked pepper, musk and small berry fruits precedes a long and moderately rich palate of genuine elegance and length. Backed by a fine, supple spine, its brightly lit berry/plum fruit and tightly knit oak finish with length, balance and a savoury aspect.

Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
There’s an entire spice kitchen woven into the folds of O’Riada: Bouquet garni, bay leaf, paprika, pot pourri and layers of white pepper over its crunchy red cherry and strawberry fruit. With a honed focus, this is a savoury and tightly structured expression of shiraz viognier, riding on firm rails of cool vintage acidity. Ultra-fine, mouthfilling tannins lend assured structure and control to its extroverted complexity.

A fine, supple and gentle shiraz likely to build weight and depth. Scented with spicy, faintly minty aromas of raspberries, redcurrants and cassis backed by notes of white pepper, cloves and cinnamon, it's lifted by scents of red and blue flowers and restrained cedar/vanilla oak. Medium in weight, with a fine, powdery texture beneath its sappy, but intense core of bright black and red berry flavours, it's smooth and savoury, finishing with nuances of charcuterie meats, mint and menthol.

Clonakilla genius for the masses, this year cooler and more pepper-edged than ever. It’s chiselled, angular and honed, with mineral granite nuances, generous layers of edgy pepper and crunchy blackberries. Given time, it will unravel into something profound.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Strong, bright red-purple; an altogether elegant wine, elegance due in part to the 5% co-fermented viognier, and partly to the balance between juicy fruit on the one hand, savoury tannins and oak on the other. The skilled hand of Tim Kirk at work.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Likely to flesh out in the bottle, this sweetly fruited and supple red has a wild, heady and peppery bouquet of red cherries, dark plums and fresh cedar/vanilla oak lifted by musky spices and a viognier-driven floral perfume. Long, smooth and satiny, with an intense core of juicy, slightly jammy cherry/plum fruit underpinned by fine, dusty tannins, it finishes bright and crunchy with refreshing acidity.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
This vintage has a cooler, fragrant edge, with nice viognier (5%) lift adding perfume to the peppery red fruits - there's complexity here already. The palate's bright and lively, medium-weight and even, really elegant and balanced from top to toe; fine tannins hold true through the finish.
The Good Wine Guide 2012
Tyson Stelzer (2009 Vintage) says
From vineyards throughout the Canberra region, this is a white pepper-accented shiraz with a floral lift, thanks to a drop of viognier.
James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Crimson-purple; a highly fragrant bouquet of spice red and black fruits introduces a finely crafted, medium-bodied palate; spicy pepper and blackberry and fine-grained tannins run through to the long finish; great class.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A wine that was conceived out of the frost-ravaged 2007 vintage; Kirk has decided to continue with it thanks to an enthusiastic reception. It shows plenty of the trademark fragrance; not as exotic as the flagship wine, quite open-knit, creamy oak, it's already in stride. It has cool blackberry and dark cherry fruit aromas and musky viognier lift. The palate's elegant and juicy with vivacious, sweet, ripe dark berry flavour, fine, easy tannins, mocha-flavoured oak and plenty of drink-now appeal.
The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010 2009
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Crimson-purple; a supremely elegant, medium-bodied wine with a vivid array of black cherry, blackberry, pepper and multi-spice flavours reflecting the co-fermentation with 6% viognier, the inclusion of whole bunches of shiraz, and 12 months in French oak (30% new); texture and balance are exceptional.
Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Named after the cousin of Clonakilla founder, John Kirk, and Irish music legend, Sean O'Riada; this is a collection of several parcels from around the district. Shows lifted, playful whole-bunch aromatics, rose water, spice-dusted red fruit? and plenty of pepper. The palate has youthful juicy appeal, some viognier richness, plenty of red berry flavour and fine open-knit tannins.
Good Australian Wine Guide 2009 2008
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
A fine and restrained bouquet of red fruit, Asian spices and a touch of mineral complexity; the oak is barely evident and the fruit concentration is undeniable, as on the palate, the wine is long, luscious and finishes with slippery fine tannin and true restraint
