This red blend is the perfect casual Friday wine. It's choc full of raspberries, dark cherries and plums, whilst the palate is quite lush and juicy, with sweet plum flavours, a lick of soft spice and vanilla, mellow tannins, and a smooth, pillowy finish. It doesn't come more easy drinking than this!
Appearance: Deep crimson.
Bouquet: Red cherries and berries, dark plums, subtle backdrop of spices and lingering vanillin oak.
Palate: Takes the very best of each variety and weaves them together with the resultant blend a spicy array of dark red fruits layered with carefully integrated oak and fine grained tannins.
Vintage conditions: Fresh early January rains prepared vines for what was to be a mild & then dry Riverina vintage. The milder temperatures allowed for wonderful expression of fruit aromas and flavours and allowed the retention of natural acid in most varieties.
Winemaking: The vineyards of each variety are monitored during the growth and ripening periods of the fruit until the winemakers achieve the right balance of fruit freshness, structure and ripeness of each variety that go onto this multifaceted blend. Each variety is fermented separately on skins for 5-6 days then blended together to emphasis the characteristics of each variety.
Cellaring: Excellent to drink now or will give complexity with short term cellaring.
Food match: This full bodied wine style matches well with:
Red meats - T-bone steaks; stews; lamb shanks
