Cracka Review

What more can you say about Marlborough Savvy Blanc? It's still a crowd favourite, and this one from Eradus has a bit of something extra that sets it apart from the usual suspects. There is still the classic tropical passionfruit and mango nose, but also some Granny Smith apples and lime rind in the mix. The palate is quite fleshy and textural, with passionfruit and gooseberry flavours, a bit of creaminess to the mouthfeel, a nice zip of citrusy acidity, and a crisp, dry finish.

Winemaker's Notes

On the nose herbaceous, orange zest and lime. On the palate clean, crispy and vital with a elegant and structured finish.

The 2011 vintage is a good buy. Vibrant and racy, with punchy melon and green-capsicum flavours, it shows excellent freshness, intensity and immediacy.

Ripely scented and fleshy, with good acid spine and very good depth of tropical fruit flavours. Good value at $17.99.

Weighty, rich and rounded, with sweet-fruit delights, deep gooseberry and lime flavours, a slightly minerally streak and tomato stalk characters typical of the Awatere. Notably concentrated, it's priced sharply.

_A real blockbuster!î commented one judge. Pungent, powerful, gooseberry aromas with lots of underlying passionfruit characters. Ultra-rich and overtly tropical palate with great acid zing.

Grown in the Awatere Valley, the 2006 vintage has strong aromas of herbs, guavas and a touch of 'sweat', leading into a full-bodied wine with a basket of fruit flavours showing excellent freshness, ripeness, delicacy and depth.
