Cracka Review

One of the success stories of Martinborough, Escarpment has come to typify premium wines of this part of New Zealand. The aim for the winery, under the skilful guidance of winemaker Larry McKenna, is to make wines that show complexity, texture and structure. Well, you can tick all those boxes with this stylish Pinot Gris showing a fuller body but without compromising the intense fruit flavour. Lively with pears and peach, some sweetness before a mouth-filling texture that makes a good alternative to Sauvignon Blanc.

2015 Escarpment Pinot Gris

Expert Reviews

Bob Campbell MW (2013 Vintage) says
Appealing Pinot Gris with concentrated pear, ginger plus a suggestion of spicy oak and some subtle nutty years lees character. Dry, full-bodied white wine with complexity and impressive power.

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
A complex and fully made style that shows some handy barrel work on the nose, nougat and sweet candied melon, apple tarte tatin and spiced brioche. The palate s layered up and textural with a wealth of fresh almond flavour, chalky pear and tropical hints to close.
Good Wine Guide
Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
This is an exotic and richly fragrant pinot gris - fully ripe. It smells almost traminer-like, with rosepetals, creamy lychee, pears and papaya, and there's plenty of savoury nougat complexity too. The palate builds into tropical-fruit flavours, with a fleshy, juicy heart of white nectarine that lingers and freshens through the finish.
