Cracka Review

Shiraz from Heathcote is a style that is intrinsically connected to the soil. Excuse us if we sound like hippies, but the notion of the soil imparting its imprint is essential to winemaking and Galli Estate understand this. The Cambrian soil of Heathcote is millions of years old and is the perfect place for Shiraz to pick up some mineral characters. Concentrated and full of bold black fruits and spice, as well as an earthy complexity, this wine makes even more sense with steak. Structured and balanced with impeccable length, no wonder they call it heavenly Heathcote.

Winemaker's Notes

A wine bursting with concentrated dark berry flavours and exotic spice. The ripe fruit and fine tannins make this an impressive drink. Deep purple in colour, there are blackberries and blueberries on the nose, with a wisp of Central Victorian eucalypt. The deftly handled French oak enhances the richness of the fruit and adds complexity.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
The back label advises: •Making good wine takes time; please take time to enjoy ...' It's pretty good advice. Really good. Plush and chocolatey, filled with plummy, earthen, smoky fruit flavour and terrifically smooth. It's a wine that feels lovely on your tongue. A wine that takes a slightly bitter, nutty aftertaste and turns it into a positive- it just seems to fit with the rich smoothness of the wine.

Fragrant and feral on the nose - a touch minty and ethereal too. Solid dark cherries and plum flavours fill the mouth.
