Cracka Review

This red blend from Geoff Hardy is drinking really well right now, and would be great company with a rack of lamb and some roasted spuds. It's quite a full-bodied style that shows ripe, rich black currants on the nose, with some violets and mint in the mix. The palate is smooth and juicy, with plummy flavours, a lick of toast, soft tannins, and a sultry finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Story: The Family Selection Red Blend 2015 is a blend of three varieties - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The grapes are grown in a number of wine regions across South Australia, including Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale.

Vintage: Early winter in 2014 was wetter than usual and the period from August to early January was very dry with above average temperatures. Following some rain and milder temperatures in January, the 2015 harvest started later that month and was quite condensed, resulting in some fabulous white and red wines.

Nose: The nose offers aromas of cherries, plums and mulberries with hints of spice.

Palate: The palate is smooth and vibrant with red berries, juicy plums and notes of cassis and spice.

Pairing: This wine is fantastic with a range of dishes, try it with lasagna or a weekend BBQ.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2021.

Alc/vol: 14.5%
