Cracka Review

Sometimes we are honoured enough to get the opportunity to bring a wine to you that doesn't need any semblance of a sales pitch.

And this is one of those wines.

Single Vineyard Shiraz, from the esteemed, mythical, iconic Hoffman Vineyard. That's pretty much all you need to know. By the time most of you are reading this, the wine has already been sold...sorry.

NB- boss told me we need to have a bit more on the wine, so here goes.

Rich, brooding blockbuster shiraz. Very obvious oak influence from having spent 19 months in some very good and very expensive French oak barrels. Of that, 20% was new, the rest in 1, 2 and 3 year old barrels. And while the oak is very prominent, its strangely not a big oak tannin bomb. Its just silky smooth. Stunning- it will last 15 years on a whim, but its approachable now without hesitation, with a recommended decant. Ideal drinking most likely from the end of 2017 to 2026.

Winemaker's Notes

"If a wine can show the best possible expression of where it came from and what season it was grown in, as well as please the senses, you have a great bottle. Ebenezer is home to some of the Barossa Valley’s best shiraz and the 2015 vintage was the best vintage I have seen in 15 years of making wine.

This full-bodied Shiraz from a single vineyard in Ebenezer has not a hard edge to be found, it is stunningly concentrated with unreal purity, a voluptuous texture, and remarkable freshness for a wine of such power, depth, and concentration. The red & blackcurrants show through along with plum, mulberry, floral and spice flavours; the silky tannins are scaled up proportionately, the finish similarly long and lengthened. A classic Barossa Shiraz of the highest quality. This 2015 will be approachable young and should drink well for 12-15 years."
