Cracka Review

Wonderful packaging and delicious wine - there is much to like about this Sauvignon Blanc. Sourced from Peter Logan's high altitude Orange vineyards, this has wonderful purity and refreshment with a long and delicious snappy palate. High quality Sauv.

Winemaker's Notes

We harvested the grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc between 12.3° and 13.1° Baumé from the 16th to the 24th March 2015. The grapes are grown at an elevation of greater than 900 metres on the slopes of Mount Canobolas in Orange.

The 2015 vintage was a joy in the NSW Central Ranges with fine weather throughout the growing season. Spring and summer were sunny and dry but with mild temperatures. These conditions continued deep into autumn ensuring a high quality harvest. It was an early harvest with all grapes from both our Mudgee and Orange vineyards harvested by the end of March. These conditions produced richly flavoured grapes with good texture and varietal characters.

The Logan 2015 Sauvignon Blanc is very pale gold in colour. It has a vibrant aroma of guava, meyer lemon, sage and white flowers. The gently textured palate zings with flavours of lime, pink grapefruit, papaya and nuts with a long mineral finish.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Light straw-green; the quality of this wine comes through the excellent finish and lingering aftertaste, which bring together the passionfruit and grapefruit flavours of the palate promised by the bouquet. A delicious sauvignon blanc once again proving the terroir of Orange for the variety.

Light straw-green; the clean, fresh bouquet is followed by an intensely zesty palate, tropical and citrus flavours in equal proportions; long, well-balanced finish.

There's an impressive burst of passionfruit on the nose of this sauvignon from Orange - this will win many friends. With passionfruit, gooseberry, some lime and melon fruits, the palate's compact and crunchy, and nicely lit with bright acidity, finishes dry and fresh.

Aromas of gooseberry, kiwi fruit and guava lead into a crisp, clean palate, the flavours waiting until the back-palate and long, dry finish to re-emerge.

Gooseberry, apple and herb aromas; a long palate, the intensity growing on the minerally/lemony finish and aftertaste.

Very light straw; the bouquet has obvious varietal character in a tropical, passionfruit spectrum and an underlying hint of sweatiness; the lively, fresh palate adds guava to the tropical fruit of the bouquet; freshened by a touch of CO?, although that hint of reduction persists. I have not down-pointed the wine because of it.

Light green-yellow; a highly spicy, floral bouquet with passionfruit and spice has Gewürztraminer over tones; the lively, light to medium-bodied palate has a similar, somewhat odd, blend of flavours.

Tyson Stelzer says
The low yielding 2012 vintage in the heights of Orange has given birth to a zesty and focused sauvignon of blackcurrant bud, mint leaf, grapefruit zest and guava fruit, underlined by taut, cool, high altitude acidity, layers of lingering fruit concentration and a crisp finish. A well crafted wine of subtle texture and pleasant balance.
