Cracka Review

mesh is a joint venture of industry legends Jeff Grosset and Robert Hill Smith. Scents of heady limes, white florals, grapefruits and bath salts rise form the glass, whilst the palate is light-bodied, dry and super zesty, with lime and subtle stone fruit flavours, a delightful chalky texture, and a long, racy finish that will easily see a decade out, and develop some lovely honey and toast along the way.

Winemaker's Notes

The final wine is green and vibrant in appearance, with aromas of zesty lemons, grapefruit and a hint of dried green herb and spice. The palate is intense and generous, with lively citrus fruit flavours and hints of talc. The wine finish is clean and dry with refreshing, almost salty acidity. As is the case with all great Eden Valley Rieslings, mesh will age gracefully and reliably into a mature wine under the screw-cap closure.

2015 mesh Eden Valley Riesling

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
Brilliantly pure and translucently intense, with an exuberant, heady bouquet of fresh lime juice, apple and pear lifted by scents of lavender and white flowers, with underlying chalky, mineral notes. Long and vibrant, with an essential presence of lime juice and lemon rind above a fine chalkiness, It's tightly wound around a fresh, focused acidity, finishing with beautiful shape and definition.
The Australian Wine Annual 2014 Edition
Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
Beautifully measured, balanced and focused, with a fragrance of white flowers, pear and apple backed by mineral suggestions of bathpowder. Long and racy, with pristine, concentrated flavours of lime, apple and white peach underpinned by a very fine chalkiness, it extends long and streamlined towards a tangy, charmingly balanced finish of bright-lit acidity.
The Australian Wine Annual 2013
Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Beautifully intense, focused and sculpted, this gentle Eden Valley riesling has a fresh lime juice, pear and apple scent lifted by a perfume of aromatic white flowers and backed by a hint of mineral. Fine and elegant, its juicy, pristine fruit is underpinned by a fine, dusty undercarriage, finishing with exceptional length, a powdery, sherbet-like lick of slate and taut, abrupt acidity.
The Australian Wine Annual 2012
Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Fine long and surprisingly concentrated, with a slightly candied fragrance of white flowers, fresh apple, lime juice and lemon backed by suggestions of chalk and minerals. Underpinned by a slatey, bony texture, it's long, austere and citrusy, with a pleasing depth of vibrant fruit backed by slightly meaty and creamy nuances, finishing with bright acidity.
Australian Wine Annual 2010 2009
Jeremy Oliver (2007 Vintage) says
Juicy, generous and floral, with a slightly candied and crystalline expression of lime juice and lemon backed by undertones of wet slate, chalk. It becomes a little syrupy and angular on the palate, and while it's generously and brightly lit with fruit and backed by a fine chalkiness, it does finish fractionally sweet-sour and edgy, lacking genuine focus and freshness.
Australian Wine Annual 2009 2008
Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
An incredible riesling in the classically stylish and powdery Eden Valley style, with a purity of accent and simply exceptional delivery. There's something of the wild, mineral and exotic about its heady perfume of floral, citrus and stonefruit aromas. Long, tight and tangy, its clear lime juice palate builds towards a crescendo of flavour prior to a taut and mineral finish of wonderful length. Grand Cru stuff.
