After tasting this delicious Margaret River Cabernet Merlot we can understand why it won all that bling too - it's a blinder.

Crafted by Frank Tate, who was one of the original family members who put Evans & Tate on the map, this full-flavoured Cabernet blend shows juicy blackberry Cabernet characters, with ripe Merlot fleshiness, alongside a little Margaret River mint and some fine tannins.

What really hooks you in here - and what no doubt helped convince the judges to give this eight gold medals is that perfect balance, with a structure that suggests this will look great now and great in eight years time.

    Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
A juicy and succulent cab merlot blend showing some distinctive confectionary characters on the nose. It's perfumed with more red fruits lifted with some nice mintiness. The palate is soft and supple. It's a wine for the next few years.

Clear red-purple; has the hallmark freshness and energy of the winery, with cassis/blackcurrant aromas and flavours supported by precisely judged tannins and oak.

Purple-crimson; a full-bodied blend in traditional Margaret River style, the black and red fruits with a savoury/gravelly backbone, tannins ripe and adding to the texture.

    Peter Forrestal (2007 Vintage) says
This has the power and concentration that you'd expect of a Margaret River cab merlot. I find it a bit tannic or perhaps under-fruited

    James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
There is some lift to the aromas of berry, leaf and mint, characters that flow though the light- to medium-bodied palate; good length.

    Ray Jordan (2007 Vintage) says
This is a stylish and elegant cab ,merlot blend that has both substance and structure together with warm ripe opulent fruit intensity. Balanced and poised with fine ripe tannins, understated oak and vibrant minty red berry fruit. It all works extremely well together.
