Cracka Review

Hailing from Martinborough, this wine displays everything we like about EnZed savvy. There's plenty of bright passionfruit and other tropicals on the nose, whilst the palate is fleshy and fruity, with bright, approachable acidity, and a frisky, refreshing, tropical fruit salad finish. Fesh and cheps anyone?

Winemaker's Notes

Colour: Bright, very pale straw-green colour, near colourless on the edge

Aroma: The nose is very fresh with intense, vibrantly fragrant aromas of ripe passionfruit with bright lime and citrus notes, gooseberries, lifted florals and subtle minerally elements. This is delicately detailed and exudes vitality

Palate: Dry to taste and medium-bodied, bright and elegantly concentrated flavours of sweet tropical fruits and gooseberries are entwined with passionfruit and mineral notes. The mouthfeel is refreshing and refined, with very fine textures and a crisp, poised palate line. Aromatic herb and floral elements unfold and carry through to a lively, lifted, luscious and long lingering finish. This is a refined, aromatically rich Sauvignon Blanc with fine textures and vitality

Ageing Potential: Serve with seafood, salads and vegetables over the next 2 years

Alc/vol: 13.5%

2015 Palliser Estate Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2012 Vintage) says
"This wholly seductive wine is one of the greatest Sauvignon Blanc in the country, with a distinguished track record to prove it. It is typically an immaculate classy wine, fresh, lively and simply overflowing with flavour."
Classic Wines of New Zealand
Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
This has impressive freshness on the nose: capsicum, leafy herbs and bright citrus notes, some passionfruit and gooseberry too. The palate's ripe and juicy, with a core of melon and lime fruit, and some nectarine to close; acid holds the crunch.
The Good Wine Guide 2012
Nick Stock (2007 Vintage) says
Palliser's 2007 sauvignon sits very much in the regional grass and gravel style, with bright citrus and tropical fruits rolled through. The palate heads into tropical territory with passionfruit pulp and lime juice flavours; plenty to enjoy, neat balance.
Good Australian Wine Guide 2009 2008
James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Light yellow-green; fragrant passionfruit aromas are promptly followed by reductive, sweaty, dead match characters, the palate with lively fruit but overshadowed by the reduction. The same problem exists with the Marlborough- and Martinborough-sourced wines, and I can only assume was due to the errant behaviour of yeasts during the 1999 vintage.
Australian Wine Companion 2001 2001
James Halliday (1998 Vintage) says
Light straw-green; the bouquet is quite powerful, although the aromatics are slightly subdued. An elegant wine on the palate with minerally herb characters more than tropical fruit.
Australian Wine Companion 2000 1999
James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Light yellow-green; the bouquet is crisp, clean and light, but with a range of fruit characters running from herbal/capsicum through to passionfruit. The palate is clean and lively, again showing a faint grassy cut to the finish, but with some sweet fruit sustaining the middle.
