cracka review

Smells of lemons, limes, honeysuckle and tropical fruits lift from the glass, whilst the palate is off-dry with citrusy and stone fruit flavours, a cleansing line of acidity and a long, lip-smacking finish. Great with spicy dishes.

expert reviews

Campbell Mattinson (2015 Vintage) says
Intensity of flavour through the mid palate is very good. Lime jelly, lemon sherbet, talc and preserved lemon flavour. Good push to the finish. Does the off-dry style well.

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
Continues the line of this distinguished wine. While the bouquet doesn’t say too much, the palate certainly does, with citrus, residual sugar and acidity like whirling dervishes, never coming to a stop. Drink to 2027.

Very distinguished nose with fine subtle floral, honey, apple and rose aromas. Delicate fruit and subtle vein of sweetness with rose, lemon floral complexity, good acid length with a lime finish.

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
A delightfully pure, long and artfully balanced riesling, with a bouquet of fresh pear and apple, peach and lime zest lifted by a scent of white flowers. Underpinned by a fine chalkiness, its brightly lit and finely focused presence of tangy pear, apple and lime juice flavour tapers towards a clean, but slightly sweet finish wrapped in a vivacious acidity.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Light straw-green; the 24 g/1 of residual sugar is perfectly balanced by acidity, and together they lift the flavour profile dramatically. There is no rule of any kind about when you should drink the wine between now and 2025, nor is there any rule about when not to drink it.

Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
The cool 2011 vintage exemplifies the rule that off-dry rieslings are all about acidity, making this a particularly long-lived Prima. More than a year after release, it’s still as pristine, primary, zesty and succulent as ever. Racy lemon zest and spicy kaffir lime notes are the theme here, with a wonderful tension between succulent sweetness and taut, mineral acidity.

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
This off-dry style offers up lovely lime and sweet floral perfume on the nose, with some grassy edges and rocky minerals too. The palate is nicely judged, quite soft and approachable, delivering apple and lime citrus flavour in a refreshing, lightly sweet style.

Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
Marginally toffee-like, with a complex, creamy bouquet of honeysuckle, white flowers and lavender. Underpinned by a fine chalkiness, its intense flavours of tropical fruits, pear, apple and white peach are delivered with lusciousness and richness, finishing with pleasing length but just a fraction cloying.

An exhilarating Germanic style of riesling picked three to four weeks earlier than the standard. Lime floral flavours wrapped in juicy sweetness with tangy acidity giving a tidy dry finish. Ideal balance for serving in hot weather.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
The bouquet promises textbook lemon rind and washed riverstone mineral character; the off-dry palate delves into green apple and citrus blossom, with taut acidity providing considerable length and definition; long, ample and fine.

Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Artfully balanced and stylish, with a purity and concentration enhanced by a spicy, rather floral perfume of pear, apple and white peach. Long and juicy, with a pristine palate of fresh, tightly focused pear/apple flavour over a dusty undercarriage, it's deftly wrapped in a bright, but gentle acidity that plays a fine counterpoint to its modest residual sweetness.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
It may be a stylistic twist on your regular dry Eden Valley riesling, but this smells every bit as beautiful and typical as they come. Lemons and limes, some spiced green apples and wet rocks. The palate's crisp and nicely paced, rolling out smooth, citrus-soaked apple fruit flavours; the sweetness is moderated by bright acid that twists chalky to close.

This off-dry project adds another facet to the repertoire of this stunning terraced vineyard perched up high in the Eden Valley. Made from the first grapes to be harvested, it's pinned to the map by strong regional character, crisp minerals and quartzy lime juice, some lime sherbet too. The palate has a terrific balance of sugar and acidity, making a mouth-watering impression through long fine lines of flavour. Superb balance.

winemaker's notes

Pewsey Vale Vineyard Prima Riesling 2015 exhibits the purity of style that is a distinct characteristic of every vintage of this wine. Very pale in colour with green hues, the aroma has a hint of the classic Pewsey Vale Riesling characters, but is most redolent of white nectarines and lychees. The palate shows great length and finesse with a vibrancy of perfumed fruits such as guava and mandarin overlaid with a touch of white cherry, sorbet and clove. The balance of the wine is succulent and mouth-watering, inviting a second glass.
