Welcome to the remote ranges of Central Otago where rabbits run wild or so goes the legend. It’s also said that these rabbits pilfer the Pinot grapes and eat them; obviously these are rabbits with sophisticated palates. This is attractive, easy drinking and fruit forward wine with a wonderfully soft palate. It’s one of those wines you can’t help but pour another glass of.

Winemaker's Notes

Central Otago Pinot Noirs are becoming world famous as brilliant examples of the potential of the elusive perfumed Pinot Noir grape when grown in areas of complementary terroir. Like Burgundy - cool climate, inland sites are required, close to the 45th parallel to ensure a long slow ripening period. Pinot Noir quality is very yield sensitive and Central Otago Pinot Noirs are no exception to that rule. The Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir is made in a very soft, fruit forward, low tannin style – a wine to be savoured and supped, rather than an assault on the senses.

This has riper fruit characters and undergrowthy aromas, aniseed spice and some sweeter oak in there too, a little candied. The palate has super-ripe mulberry fruits, slight musky lift, big rich flavour and chewy tannin glide.
