Cracka Review

This more medium-bodied merlot is not what it seems. There's a cheeky splash of sangiovese in the mix, which compliments everything rather nicely. It's a little more than a soft and fruity number, showing aromas of red cherries, dark plums and star anise on the nose, with just a touch of earthy savouriness. The palate has a richness of fruit, but it also has a bit of grip to the tannins that lead to a cherry and savoury finish that screams out for food. It's a bargain at the price, and would be great with some cured meats, or even braised oxtail.

Winemaker's Notes

Bright medium depth magenta with carmine red tints. There are lifted fruit aromas of plum and blueberries with underlying notes of star anise and sweet spice. The palate shows generous fruit flavours of dark cherries and plums. The mid palate generosity is enhanced by a small dash of Sangiovese, which adds a rustic and savoury edge to the finish.

Ready to drink now or cellar over the next 2 years. Enjoy with either a slow cooked beef ragu on a bed of creamy mash or zucchini and eggplant ratatouille.
