Cracka Review

Plush and spicy is the name of the game with this fuller-bodied number out of Margaret River. Scents of black fruits, savoury meatiness and earthy spices waft out of the glass, whilst the palate is quite sumptuous and succulent, with a spiced plummy centre, fine but solid tannins, and a decadent lush finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Concentrated, ripe and intense with wild blackberry, sweet spice and tapenade notes, the bouquet of the wine makes for a heady mix. The palate is rich with plums and blackberries and is balanced by persistent, savoury tannins and quality, vanilla oak characters. Drink now, or cellar for further complexity.

Plenty to like about this excellent shiraz. Intense aromas displaying dark plum, savoury blackberry and spices. The palate has been seamlessly brought together with ripe tannins and fine grained oak in support. Robust flavours with a strong savoury spice character. Good for the cellar.

Holding on to purple notes well; an elegant, medium-bodied wine with delicious mouthfeel; plum, black cherry and blackberry fill the mid palate, withdrawing gracefully towards the finish, allowing very fine, savoury tannins (and oak) to provide complexity and length.

You must let this very youthful wet behind the ears wine breathe and better still decant it to take the edges off. Once you do you will get a superb example of Margaret River Shiraz. Savoury and immensely powerful yet with a controlled integrated palate structure that carries to a very long finish.Ê

Restrained savoury bouquet with sage and thyme framing the red fruit; medium-bodied with ample flesh, and fine drying tannins; even, harmonious and surprisingly long; a real sleeper with potential.

Maintains the elegance and refinement that marks the Redate style. Opens with a subtle earthy savoury character in the bouquet with a little cedary and coffee bean. The palate displays admirable depth with some edgy tannins and ample oak. A wine that will benefit from further ageing.

Interesting aromas of black pepper and aniseed. Well-structured palate with lovely flavour length and gratifying intensity. Up-front style.

Another Margaret River shiraz to impress - that 2007 West Australian vintage has sure pulled out some rippers. Has a bit of class and plenty of drinking appeal. Notes of cedary, dusty, vanilla oak, pepper, ripe, sweet blackberry and raspberry. Maybe some dried herbs too. Take a swig and find yourself with a good mouthful of flavour - just above medium-bodied. Good balance. Tannins give grip and shape. Just a very good wine.

Light but bright hue; light- to medium-bodied, lively and fresh; both red and black fruits plus lots of spice; good length and restrained oak; delicious early-drinking style.

One of the best wines I have tasted from the 2006 vintage. Lifted and lovely perfumed notes of light cedary, cherry and red berry on the nose. Palate is seamlessly structured with fine tannins with nicely weighted oak. Long medium bodied palate.

Very good purple-red; excellent balance and composition from the bouquet through to the finish; a mix of blackberry, plum, cherry and spice; fine tannins and oak on a long finish.
