expert reviews about
2015 Vasse Felix Filius Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon
Gary Walsh says
Dusty gum leaf and gravel perfume, baking spices, and a mix of red and black berries. Medium bodied, again firm and dusty, subdued yet flavoursome, excellent bone structure and a lovely mouth-perfume, and a clean long finish. Trim and fresh, and very pleasant to drink.
Huon Hooke says
Deep red/purple colour with a very attractive, clean and pure, fruit-driven aroma of cedar, tobacco, cassis and violets. It's medium to full-bodied and intense, with gentle tannins which are not too pervasive, and an overall impression of suberb balance. The aftertaste is elegant and balanced and more-ish. A ripping cabernet. (13% malbec)
Bob Campbell MW says
A pure and perfect expression of cabernet sauvignon with blackberry, cassis, cigar box and a suggestion of black olive. A fine-boned and linear red with a lingering finish. Gently drying and not too austere. Should develop very well in the bottle.
Ray Jordan says
Such an elegant and stylish cabernet that captures the regional stamp or Margaret River. Blackcurrant and black olive tapenade on the nose. The palate has good oak integration and firm sinewy tannins. Controlled and integrated. Its a wine that clearly over-delivers at this price.
