There’s a bit of showmanship attributed to this label that’s based on circus performers. The ringmaster of the vines is winemaker Michael Kerrigan who makes wines for Hay Shed Hill in the Margaret River. This blend of three varieties is also a blend of regions; McLaren Vale and the Barossa. It’s a combination of bold-fruited Shiraz, savoury Grenache and spicy Tempranillo that delivers a subtle but complex wine. There’s lashings of ripe fruit on offer here, with lots of layered spice and a soft, textured finish.

A combination of Shiraz, Grenache and Tempranillo which produces a wine full of intrigue, subtlety and complexity.

The 2015 Red Right Hand is the result of the union of three of the great world varieties each with their individual attributes from the cooler, Margaret River region of Australia to produce a wine of great complexity and interest.

We are all familiar with the hero variety – Shiraz, full of colour, flavour and structure. Blended with Grenache, contributing its heady perfume and sweet fruit mid palate. Bringing the wine together is a small dollop of intense, savoury Tempranillo.

Each component of the wine was fermented separately in open topped vats with traditional fermentation techniques. The resultant wine parcels were matured in a combination of French barriques for 12 months before blending.

The wine displays awesome colour; deep crimson red, bright and vibrant in hue. The bouquet is a complex mix of ripe berry fruits and savoury aromas. The palate displays rich and fruit sweet fullness with a complex and savoury textural finish of mature tannin.

The 2015 Red Right Hand has the structure to reward medium term cellaring but is especially attractive now with its fruit ripe sweetness.

Bright colour; raspberry, blackberry, spice and a little roasted meat complexity on the bouquet; the palate is taut, refreshing and well balanced, with Provencal garrigue providing added depth to the finish.

Gee, this works really well. It shows a lovely regional coherence, with bright red and purple berries, gentle oak in toasty vanilladusted mode, cassis and cherry too. The palate tunes in on the latter, purple cherry and cassis fruits roll through on gently grainy tannins and lightly toasted spice. Tidy finish.

A South Australian cartel of makers and marketers has whipped up some snappy packaging and filled it with equally snappy juice - this has a dark roasted nut aroma, opening to earthy plum and licorice with toasted spice too. The palate's smoothly honed on fine, easy tannins, the same oak-derived nutty flavours repeated here, finishing with plum skin bite and fine tannin texture.
