Cracka Review

For those of you who like your chardys sans oak, this one will be right up your street. Hailing from all over South Australia, smells of poached stone fruits, tropical fruit salad and cream waft out of the glass to greet the nose. Meanwhile, the palate is lighter-bodied, dry and fruity, with peach, pineapple and gooseberry flavours, and creamy mouthfeel, and a bright, refreshing finish. Great with chicken and mayo sandwiches.

Winemaker's Notes

Fresh tropical fragrances provide a tantalizing suggestion of rich, creamy peach and nougat flavours. With its subtle spiciness and crisp finish this is a lively white wine with a touch of exoticness.

A Chardonnay to be enjoyed now – try with slow roasted pork belly with pear coleslaw. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

2015 Yalumba Y Series Unwooded Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2011 Vintage) says
We all need a multitalented house white at the ready in the fridge. One of Yalumba’s finest unwooded chardonnays to date delivers ripe white peach, pineapple and grapefruit flavours with the tangy, fresh, lively acidity characteristic of 2011. Wild fermentation is an unexpected blessing at this price, contributing lovely palate texture.

Tyson Stelzer (2010 Vintage) says
Fruit-driven, refreshing and subtle, with a dry, lingering finish, this is a chardonnay of white nectarine, crunchy grapefruit, zesty lemon and faint pineapple nuances. The perfect thing to keep in the fridge for unexpected guests.

Tyson Stelzer (2009 Vintage) says
Fresher, zestier, cleaner and altogether more stylish than you would expect at this price, especially when you see how low it can go in the 'barn' stores. Lovely white floral perfume, mandarin and white peach coalesce in a lemon zest finish with nicely structured acidity.
Peter Forrestal (2009 Vintage) says
The marvels at Yalumba have brought out the lovely floral aromas, bright, intense white peach and nectarine flavours, beguiling viscosity and taut, refreshing acidity. Delicious.

This is a cheap and cheerful white that has some sweet tropical fruit flavours.
