This has got to be Cullen's most popular white wine, and it's affordable too! Scents of lemons, limes and honeydew melons jump out of the glass, along with a delicate touch of nuttiness. The palate is lighter-bodied, crunchy and rounded, with juicy citrus flavours, frisky acidity, and a fresh limy finish. Just the thing for seafood.
Description: 2016 was another exceptional vintage for the Mangan Vineyard. A warm ripening period resulted in fruit arriving at the winery in superb condition. Good rains enhanced the growing season with no rainfall at all during the harvest period. Those good farming conditions have resulted in elegant and perfumed wines defined by great purity.
2016 Vintage Report: We were happy to have the 2016 harvest. It followed three vintages of tiny yields which left us with very little wine to sell! The vintage had average yields and the rain that fell in January 80mm, and then February 15mm, and March 10mm, had no effect at all on the fruit quality. The resultant wines have a wonderful aromatic quality and elegance, particularly in Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Great vintage for Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and in the reds Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bouquet: Complex aromas of tropical notes, freshly cut grass and lemon citrus.
Palate: The palate has plenty of drive and displays intense notes of limes, lemon and gooseberry. The oak treatment playing second role here.
Cellar: Enjoy now or for up to 10 years.
Food: Sake marinated crayfish served sashimi.
Varieties: 57% Sauvignon Blanc, 38% Semillon and 5% Verdelho.
