Cracka Review

This is a real cool style of Chardy hailing from one of the cooler vineyards in the south of the Margaret River region. It's a real orchard fruit and citrus number, with grapefruits, white peaches and pears on the nose, with decent whiffs of creamed nuts and breadiness. The palate is more medium-bodied and stone fruity, with a good lick of buttery oak, a slight creaminess to the texture, and a bright, citrus and nutty finish.

Winemaker's Notes

The most critical site selection is applied to vineyard sites for growing Miamup Chardonnay. Each location adds to the complexity of the wine due to the soils, aspects, clones and microclimates unique to the respective sites. Applied to this rich collection of choice, is the skill and enthusiasm of our winemaking team that draws upon traditional winemaking methods and the use of fine grain French oak to craft a layered, flavoursome and complex wine.

A wine bouncing from the glass with fresh and rare fruit notes of mixed citrus, melon, peach and apricot. These primary aromas are subtly enhanced with caramel and vanilla spice, adding complexity, excitement and anticipation. The palate exudes fleshy primary fruits, layered with nutmeal, lemon butter and brioche. A chalky, mineral texture and fresh citrus acidity continues the bounce.

Cellaring: Now and over the next few years.

Food ideas: Blue swimmer crab with a dill mayonnaise for dipping or double cream brie on water biscuits.

Alc/vol: 13.0%

James Halliday (2015 Vintage) says
Bright and fresh grapefruit/citrus and white peach fruit are elegantly precise, length/linearity the key, the kiss of new French oak adding to the appeal.

Nick Stock (2011 Vintage) says
This is from the southern reaches of Margaret River and offers an intense and citrusy expression, with some young nectarine fruit below; really clean and airy. The palate s tangy citrus flavours are presented in fleshy, smooth and supple style, and acidity cleans up nice and neat.
