2016 Norfolk Rise Vineyard Mount Benson Merlot
Campbell Mattinson (2016 Vintage) says
If you’re on the lookout for a sub $20 Merlot, this would be good place to start. It has some grunt. It’s not just about simple sweet fruit and not much else, though it is tasty with berried flavour. There’s tannin. There’s spice. There’s the kind of ‘chewiness’ that works a treat at the dinner table. And while there are gum nut and twiggy spice almost-bitter notes, they serve to give the wine some breadth, some interest, some savoury appeal. This shows a lot of “affordable” Merlots how it’s done.2016 - 2019

Blueberries and mulberries came to mind on tasting, very sound and quite interesting.
