Cracka Review

Call it Gris or Grigio they are both the same variety, it is just the way it’s made that differs! This is a Grigio so it’s made in the Italian way, ensuring a crisp, fruit driven style that’s refreshing and dry. It’s loaded with pear, apple and nectarine with a trace of spice before a fruit driven palate that’s got a refreshing tang of pear and citrus and a long, dry finish. Pair it with a fresh chicken salad for a taste sensation.

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Has the faintest touch of pink; it is crisp and lively, with ample depth to the pear and apple fruit. A sign of the times that it should be line-priced with the red wines.

Norfolk rose from nowhere with this wine. I'd never heard of them before I began tasting for the book, and for a pinot grigio to sneak up on me and grab five stars might just be a first. (What, you think I'm going to trawl through the previous five editions to check? You know me better than that.) Mount Benson is just to the west of Coonawarra, with a lovely cool climate and great red soils. This outfit is one to watch.
