A ripe and forthright chardonnay in the classic Paringa style, showing plenty of ripe peaches and almost tropical fruits, with nicely restrained older oak influence. The palate's smooth and even, really brightly lit with crunchy acid; some mealy oak comes across ripe melon fruits. Drink young whilst fresh.NowThe Good Wine Guide
This has the hallmarks of top-flight chardonnay from the cool Red Hill district of the Mornington Peninsula, with some flinty, smoky nuances, pears and citrus fruits, a whiff of French oak - really engaging stuff. The palate has an even-handed shape and decent build, turning creamy through the middle and really holding the finish with impressive resolve.2011The Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide 2010

Elegant lemon fruit with a touch of mineral; the palate is tightiy wound with pronounced fresh acidity and citrus fruit on the finish.Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
Lively; fragrant, fruit-driven style, with considerable length to the bright stone fruit flavors; good acidityAustralian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Fine, elegant and intense; all the hallmarks of Paringa Estate, the emphasis on fruit driving a long, lingering finish. Absurdly underpriced, even if for a third label; 100% barrel ferment in used barriques; 20% mlf.Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
Lindsay McCall's doing some brilliant stuff down on the Mornington Peninsula. His shiraz and pinots are fabulous, and you should keep an eye on his viognier when he manages to get some decent volume going. The chardonnays are the pick of the whites, though. This one's from the 'entry level' Peninsula range, sourced from a number of local vineyards— and quite simply, there cannot be many chardies of this quality available for anything like this price.Don't Buy Wine Without Me 2008 2007
Very complex barrel ferment aromas and flavours, with wild yeast influence; ripe nectarine and citrus, touches of cashew; powerful but not heavy.Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
100% barrel-fermented in French oak, 20% new. The elegant, moderately intense grapefruit and melon palate is perfectly balanced, the fruit having eaten the oak.Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
The Peninsula or 'PE' label represents the first tier in the Paringa Estate range. In recent years Paringa has renewed its focus in ensuring the Peninsula range over-delivers on quality - this Chardonnay is no exception.
Winemaking: The fruit for this wine was sourced from our four Estate managed vineyards within the Red Hill sub-region. In the winery the fruit was whole bunch pressed, transferred to barrel on solids and barrel fermented in seasoned French oak (approximately 1/4 indigenous yeast). Oak maturation took place on lees for the following 10 months before bottling.
Tasting Notes: The bouquet is floral and fruit driven with citrus and stone fruit aromas. The palate has rich stone fruit flavours, good texture and a persistent long finish. While this wine has been made for current drinking, it will build further complexity over the next 3 to 6 years.
Cellaring: Current drinking or will reward 3 - 5 years.
