    cracka review

This more medium-bodied Merlot is not what it seems. There's a cheeky splash of Sangiovese in the mix, which compliments everything rather nicely. It's a little more than a soft and fruity number, showing aromas of red cherries, dark plums and star anise on the nose, with just a touch of earthy savouriness. The palate has a richness of fruit, but it also has a bit of grip to the tannins that lead to a cherry and savoury finish that screams out for food. It's a bargain at the price, and would be great with some cured meats, or even braised oxtail.

    winemaker's notes

The rains have finally come. Months of travelling the Long Paddock, searching for feed for his animals can be put behind the farmer as he heads for home. Newly green pastures will provide much needed food for his animals. And a place to rest some weary bones.

And there’s no more welcoming sight than seeing the farm gate. It’s good to be home.

Tasting Note: Medium depth magenta with carmine red tints. Alluring fruit aromas of red plum and blueberries with underlying notes of star anise and warm spice. The palate shows generous fruit flavours of dark cherry and plum. The mid palate generosity is enhanced by a dash of Sangiovese, which adds a touch of tradition and a rustic, savoury edge to the finish. Ready to drink now or cellar over the next 2 years. Enjoy with a slow cooked beef ragu on a bed of creamy mash or zucchini and eggplant ratatouille.

    Suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians.
