cracka review

Set in a few acres along the impressive Freycinet coastline of East Tasmanina, the Lyne family has a proud history at Spring Vale dating back to 1875. This wine has a lovely signature of what we like to call Pinosity with vibrant raspberry and some mushroom-like earthy complexity. It’s a well structured wine that just gets better and better in the glass as it sinks down far too easily. It would pair well with mushroom or game dishes.

expert reviews

Rob Geddes MW (2012 Vintage) says
Pinot floral strawberry and raspberry with spice showing as a subtle peppery herbal edge. As always, plenty of ripe fruit aromas. The fresh strawberry fruit is backed by good acid, medium depth fruit, lingering fruit ripeness and a firm finish.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Bright and clear crimson-purple; a fragrant cherry blossom bouquet with a hint of spice, then a firm, crisp palate; has a splash of pinot meunier that may be responsible for the savoury/spice nuance on the finish.

Very pretty wine and rare Pinot noir and pinot meuniere gives this a deeper-set palate with rose and raspberry and some marmite flavours to finish. Year after year the plush ripe balance of tis wine impresses as does the price.

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
A very ripe and forward pinot, with plenty of oak on the deck as well. This has appeal in the short term - not terribly concentrated, a light red/brown, will be best as 'Drink now' stuff. There're light cherry fruits and a little sweetness too.

Brooding boot-polish aromas on the nose here, a richly styled pinot showing lovely sweet fruits and plenty of oak-derived baking spice. The palate has sturdy, steady, ripe tannins and good acid clip through the back, plenty of deep plum/cherry flavour, finishing balanced and even.

An elegant, light-bodied wine, part of its character deriving from the pinot meunier, giving it some leafy/savoury characters

winemaker's notes

Vibrant strawberry jam and raspberry jelly nose on an earthy background. Splash of Pinot Meunier adds some interest as a subtle indigenous yeast character. A juicy, soft, silky palate seals the deal in this early drinking, well priced Pinot. Match with crispy skinned ocean trout or slow roasted lamb shoulder.
