If anyone is going to know how to make good Chardonnay, it is Tyrrell's. One of the first wineries in Australia to put Chardonnay on a label, Tyrrell's have been making Chardies from the Hunter now for 40 years. Handy! With the 2016 Tyrrell's Stomping Ground Chardonnay they've turned out an absolutely classic styled Hunter Valley Chardonnay. Think white peach fruit, a lick of vanilla oak, and then enough acidity to have you coming back for secondsies (or thirdsies).
The grapes used to craft the Stomping Ground Chardonnay were matured in new as well as old French oak barriques and treated on yeast lees to enhance texture and complexity. The base wine shows a bright golden colour with green hues along the edges. The attractive and perfumed bouquet exudes rich citrus fruit aromas which intermix with subtle oak undertones on the palate, to culminate in a balanced and captivating finale.
