Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz ($85). Bests Bin 0 Shiraz ($85). Wolf Blass Platinum Shiraz ($180). Yalumba Octavius Shiraz ($100)... This Killerby K Shiraz ($20) beat them all to score the Best Shiraz Trophy at the 2018 Royal Brisbane Wine Show.

How did a humble Frankland River red nudge out all these icons? Easy, it's absolutely delicious! Killerby has been kicking serious goals over the last few years thanks to the arrival of Chilean winemaker Marco Pinares.

Here, Marco has made a deliciously ripe yet savoury West Australian Shiraz that is packed with both fruit and spice, the style richly deserving its 95 points and gold medal.

It's a delicious red, from a ripper vintage in WA's Great Southern, now at very very few dollars.

    winemaker's notes

Appearance: Well extracted with a bright violet red colour

On the nose: A multitude of red fruits, showing the influence of the Great Southern Shiraz.

On the palate: The Shiraz from the Ferngrove Estate is East-West facing hence avoiding the harsh afternoon sun, allowing the elegant, cool climate flavours to come through. The Killerby K Shiraz shows satsuma plums, spicy red currant and raspberry characters.

Food Match: Enjoy with a well-seasoned porterhouse fillet chargrilled over a bbq with friends.

    Alcohol: 14%

    pH: 3.31

    Bottle Size: 750ml

    Closure: Screw Cap
