Cracka Review

3 Drops is an ultra cool little label centred around Mt Barker in WA. This Riesling is arguably their best wine (though t they make a pretty handy red too) and captures the juicy, lemon grass and lime deliciousness that Mt Barker is renowned for.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale, light and bright. Lovely citrus characters of limes and tangerines give a fresh, clean nose. Some subtle talc and floral notes add lift and interest. The wine shows delicacy and finesse on the palate. It is crisp and clean and lingers wonderfully in the mouth. The lime is the dominant fruit character on the palate, backed by the floral notes. The natural acidity gives great structure and balance, but still the palate has a tantalizing juiciness.

James Halliday (2013 Vintage) says
Pale straw-green; all things bright and beautiful about Great Southern/Mount Barker riesling coalesce in the hands of contract winemaker Rob Diletti; Meyer lemon, lime and green apple fruit flavours are captured in a finely spun web of acidity.
Ray Jordan (2012 Vintage) says
Another excellent riesling from one of the State's best with this variety. Spicy and minerally on the nose with a little squeeze of lime. The palate is typically soft and delicate but with an impressive length and drive. That fine crunchy acid brings it to life.
WA Wine Guide 2013
James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
The floral, fragrant bouquet announces a wine with intense lime and lemon fruit underscored by minerally acidity; lovely now, better still in a decade.

Ray Jordan (2011 Vintage) says
Another first rate riesling from this small producer. Minerally with spices and a decent squeeze of lemon juice. The palate is delicate and fine yet with a lingering finish that carries very long in the mouth. The low alcohol helps create that subtle delicacy which is so appealing in classy riesling.
The West Australian Wine Guide 2012
James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Pale straw-green; a wine with almost startling rectitude, with a tightly wound bundle of lime and lime zest, green apple, and unsweetened lemon built on a scaffold of minerally acidity. Patience will bring further rewards.
Australian Wine Companion 2013 2012
Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
Classically Mount Barker - long, elegant, fresh and stylish - with a very delicate but pure and essential bouquet of guava, paw paw and mango backed by musky nuances of red grapefruit. It's long and deeply flavoured, with a rolling presence of fruit that builds down the palate towards a dry, fresh and tropical finish wrapped in tight, lemony acids. Very complete, and very focused.
The Australian Wine Annual 2013 2012
James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Pale straw-green; a fresh, lively bouquet with some blossom aromas, then a crisp, distinctly minerally palate and an echo of lemon citrus on the finish. Guaranteed to age superbly.
Australian Wine Companion 2012 2011
Ray Jordan (2010 Vintage) says
Another very fine and pure Riesling from this excellent little producer. Love the fine acid, delicate flavours and purity of expression of this wonderful variety. Crisp and clean with a very long finish.
Ray Jordan's 2011 WA Wine Guide 2011
Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Likely to age slowly and gracefully in a classically austere, dry and focused style. It's bright and penetrative, with a spicy, musky scent of guava, peach, lime and pear lifted by an oily, floral scent reminiscent of traminer. Long and tangy, with a pithy texture and searingly penetrative fruit, it's underpinned by a dusty spine, finishing fresh, focused and faintly mineral.
The Australian Wine Annual 2012
Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
Made under contract by the talented Rob Diletti, this shows intense and precise stone-fruit and citrus aromas, quality floral fragrance and pure appeal. The palate's more in the citrus spectrum, with tangelo and grapefruit on offer, fine zesty acid and a crisp finish. Some magic for the money.
The Good Wine Guide 2012
James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
A highly perfumed and flowery bouquet; lime and apple blossom foretell the flavours on the palate; a beautifully cadenced wine, finishing with crisp lemony acidity.
Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
Ray Jordan (2009 Vintage) says
Superb Riesling that captures the essence of the Great Southern style. It's crisp and racy with distinct spicy lime zest aromas leading into a palate of extraordinary depth and persistence. The acid is fine and delicate yet carries a very long flavour profile.
Ray Jordan's 2010 WA Wine Guide 2010
Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Pure, fresh and floral, with a musky perfume of white flowers, pear, apple and lavender. With taut acidity balanced by a hint of sweetness, its long, finely sculpted and crystal clear expression of bright citrus, apple and pear-like fruit finishes with freshness and focus.
Australian Wine Annual 2010 2009
James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Lively and pure bouquet of lemon and ripe exotic fruit; linear and fine, lime takes over on the palate with unexpected depth and persistence; finely balanced.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
Ken Gargett (2006 Vintage) says
Feather light, finely balanced, graceful riesling. This is wonderful stuff. Made by Rob Diletti, who is steadily and quietly building a reputation as a contract maker for some seriously good wines. From the Mount Barker region, which is the top of the tree for riesling in the west, this is one of his best to date. Lovely lemony acidity carries the wine; if you get a chance to pair this with a plate of freshly grilled King George whiting, you will have known heaven.
