5 Maddens Lane Coldstream Mt Juliet Sauvignon Blanc

Cracka Review

Nose: Apple, nashi pear, citrus and gooseberry

Rob Geddes MW (2008 Vintage) says
This highly individual wine is out of character with the general view on Australian sauvignon blanc by referring to the white wines of Bordeaux. Develops with age into a graceful complex wine due to barrel fermentation. The flip side is that the wines need time to develop and understanding from drinkers.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
I 'm not convinced the fruit was sufficiently intense to justify 10 months in (presumably old) French oak; half that time might have produced a top wine. As it is, good mid-ripe flavours are evident, even if shaded by the oak.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Full-flavoured wine augmented by barrel ferment and 10 months plus lees stirring in barrel; good acidity helps carry the finish.

Spotlessly clean; vibrant and crisp at the grassy end of the spectrum, without any concessions to residual sugar on the long finish.
