Cracka Review

From one of the new breed of wine producers, this is the sort of cool, sophisticated and interesting Shiraz that is really dictating terms - a spicy, complex and aromatic wine that is much more than just fruity sweetness. Hello complexity!

Winemaker's Notes

The nose has a lot of upfront plum and cherry characters, with a hint of aniseed and Chinese five-spice on the finish. The palate as well is dominated by rich cherry, plum and molten chocolate characters and a long lingering middle seam of eucalypt and licorice.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Good bright colour; the grapes come from the biodynamic Winbirra Vineyard in Gundagai, extremely confusing given there is also a Winbirra Vineyard in the Mornington Peninsula-and also given the strong, spicy, black cherry aromas and flavours of this wine, with its cool-climate style.

Gutsy wine. Rich with full-bodied, dark fruit flavour - all of which is not, thankfully, lumbered with oak. It tastes of tar, blackberries, earth and five-spice and, while it's warm (with alcohol) through the finish, it's satisfying and generous and delicious. We'd not heard of this producer before, but this wine made us sit up and take notice. Impressive stuff.
