James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Medium crimson-purple; a very attractive medium-bodied cabernet; it has juicy and lively cassis and redcurrant fruit, polished tannins and integrated oak on the long, well-balanced medium-bodied palate. Very good value.
James Halliday's top value wines $20 & under 2012
Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Soft and smooth, this early-drinking cabernet delivers sweet, juicy pastille-like cassis and dark plum-like fruit knit with cedar/vanilla oak and backed by smoky, gravelly nuances. It's long and elegant, with a pliant, gentle spine and some rustic, slightly meaty and savoury development.
The Australian Wine Annual 2014 Edition 2014
Ray Jordan (2008 Vintage) says
Beneath the fleshy opulence of the ripe black currant and smoky dark plum fruit is a wine with a sinewy firm spine that makes quite a statement. Rich and with chocolate and spicy oak influence. The palate has juiciness with intense black fruit concentration. Firmish tannin and spicy fine grained add their bit. Mighty good value, if you ask me
The West Australian Wine Guide 2012
Jeremy Oliver (2008 Vintage) says
Showing some age, with a dusty, cedary and earthy bouquet of restrained fruit and leathery undertones. It's smooth, medium to full-bodied and perhaps marginally baked, with a moderately long palate of dark plum and berry fruit finishing with some greenish and metallic edges. Just showing signs of under and overripeness.

Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
Ray Jordan (2007 Vintage) says
A solid chunky cabernet with deep concentrated black fruits on the nose lifted with some light cedary oak. It's a dark brooding sort of wine with ripe tannins, substantial oak and some nice warm fruit intensity. Dark chocolate and minty nuances completed the palate.
Ray Jordan's 2010 WA Wine Guide 2010
Jeremy Oliver (2007 Vintage) says
Juicy, almost jammy, jujube-like aromas of fresh blackcurrants, dark plums and cedar/vanilla oak reveal a suggestion of raisined fruit. It's smooth, evenly paced and elegant, with a long, palate-staining presence of berries, plums and prunes backed by sweet, tight-grained vanilla oak, finishing marginally short, with slightly green-edged and metallic tannins. A good wine, but marginally under and overripe.
The Australian Wine Annual 2012
Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2007 Vintage) says
If you want to stir up a bunch of wine nerds, ask them which grape variety the Great Southern region is better at - shiraz or cabernet sauvignon. Naturally, Walsh and Mattinson disagree. Now here's a good wine. It has excellent cabernet flavour, no lack of ripeness but at the same time it's not over the top with alcohol heat. It has a good amount of ripe but firm tannin too. Sure signs of cedary, creamy vanilla oak, matched to blackcurrant, black olive and tobaccoey fruit flavours. In all it's got dollops of flavour, tannin reigning it in , and good drinkability.
The Big Red Wine Book 2010/11 2010
Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
A short to medium term red whose dusty aromas of small black and red berries and cedary vanilla oak reveal tobaccoey undertones of capsicum and asparagus. It's polished and oaky, with a modest presence of fresh small berry fruits and fine, powdery tannins but is clearly underpinned by a thread of greenish under-ripe character.
Australian Wine Annual 2010 2009
Ray Jordan (2006 Vintage) says
Smart wine, this from a very cool year. Somehow the guys have got it together. Good varietal Cabernet on the nose with the oak neatly worked. Leafy tobacco characters and a long medium weight palate. Short term cellaring and very appealing stylish presentation.
Ray Jordan's 2009 WA Wine Guide 2009
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Cedary / savoury / earthy overtones to light - to medium-bodied red and blackcurrant fruit; less weight and conviction than expected.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
A well handled but slightly under-ripened short-term cabernet whose meaty, earthy and green-edged aromas of dark plums and cassis overlie creamy cedary oak. Supported by firm and gritty tannin, it begins with vibrant fruit but becomes more lean and dilute towards the finish.
Australian Wine Annual 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Medium-bodied; fragrant cedary/spicy/ earthy overtones to blackcurrant fruit; quality oak; overall sweetness without the least bit of residual sugar.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
An elegant, slightly herbal cabernet with floral aromas of small black and red berries over leafy, greenish and capsicum-like influences. The palate is initially bright and vibrant, with intense berry and plum fruit and emerging cedar/cigarbox undertones, but thins out a little towards a green-edged finish. It offers some genuine structure and vitality of fruit.
Australian Wine Annual 2007 2006
James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Strong colour; a potent mix of blackcurrant and blackberry; persistent but ripe tannins give great texture and structure.
Australian Wine Companion 2006 2005
James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
A medium-bodied mix of blackcurrant, cedar and earth; subtle oak, finely grained tannins.
Australian Wine Companion 2005 2004
James Halliday (1999 Vintage) says
Bright purple-red; blackberry and confit/jam aromas together with subtle oak on the bouquet settle down somewhat on the soft, sweet berry fruit and fine tannins of the palate; just a little loose overall.
