Allandale Hunter Valley Verdelho

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

This voluptuous style of verdelho is quite full and ripe for its ilk, and would be great with some spicy Asian dishes, or simply some roast chook. It's quite a tropical number showing pineapple, guava and quince on the nose, along with hints of citrus and some toasty development. The palate is more medium-bodied, with tropical and toasty flavours, approachable acidity, and a lemon zest finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Palate: Tropical fruit characters balanced by a citrus line of acid resulting in a long lingering finish.

Food: A perfect match with Asian cuisine.

Cellaring: Drink now style.

Developed colour, honeyed nose. Touch of toast from bottle age and some residual sugar on the solid palate but has the acid to balance.

Full fruit salad; lots of flavour for the addicts (of which I am not one).

Light yellow-green; the moderately intense bouquet has typical fruit salad aromas, characters which flow into the well-balanced palate, which is in turn enlivened by some lemon/citrus notes; good flavour, and not phenolic. Gold medal Royal Perth Wine Show 2001. Perth loves Verdelho.

Light green-yellow; the bouquet has light, tropical fruit salad varietal character; clean and well made with some quite attractive mid-palate weight, and a clean, non-phenolic finish. Good example of the breed.
