Cracka Review

The Alpha Crucis refers to the brightest star in the Southern Cross. Much closer to home and a bright star of winemaking is Emmanuelle Requin- Bekkers who manages to make the brightest wines from the best vineyards but only in exceptional vintages. In this incarnation the McLaren Vale is the star exuding all that is great about the region’s Shiraz; it’s full of broody, dark berries and seductive hints of rich chocolate. The palate rewards with plum, spice and vital berries before a concentrated and layered palate.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Dense purple with red hues.

Nose: Brooding dark berries with plum and spice notes. Hint of bitter dark chocolate.

Palate: Dark berries, saturated plums, layers of spice and dark chocolate combine on the palate, Dense and concentrated with a long fine finish. Decant on opening in the first 5 years.

Cellaring: Cellaring: Will reward cellaring for 5-8 years or more.

James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Dense purple -crimson; a massive shiraz full of black fruits, licorice and dark chocolate; despite its concentration, is neither jammy nor unduly extractive.
