Michael Cooper (2000 Vintage) says
A lush, oily Sauternes style, the gorgeous 1998 vintage was estate-grown at Maraekakaho, in Hawke's Bay, and fermented and matured in all-new French oak barrels. The 2000, also fully barrel-fermented, is gold/amber, with a strongly honeyed fragrance. It's a classy, weighty wine with abundant sweetness (220 grams/litre of residual sugar), a deliciously oily texture and rich, ripe, honeyed, complex flavours.
