Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
The firm, rich, complex 2000 is a blend of four Bordeaux varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. From a year in which the top label, The Aviator, was not produced, the 2001 is full-coloured and sturdy. Matured for 18 months in oak casks (50 per cent new), it's a concentrated Hawke's Bay red with deep blackcurrant, spice and nut flavours, firm tannins and obvious cellaring potential.

The 2000 vintage is a blend of four Bordeaux varieties - Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec - oak-aged for 18 months. Sweet oak aromas lead into a smooth, rich palate with warm, concentrated blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours seasoned with toasty oak and some emerging savoury, leathery touches. It's a complex wine, already delicious.

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
The voluptuous 1998 vintage is a blend of Hawke's Bay Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, matured for 16 months in French and American oak casks (40 per cent new). It's a superb, densely coloured, very powerful and intense wine with highly concentrated blackcurrant/plum flavours, supple tannins and a spicy, rich finish. Crammed with flavour, soft yet structured, it's delicious already, but sure to reward cellaring.
