Cracka Review

It’s no secret that that aromatic white blends continue to be the Margaret River’s most potent weapon and here’s one more from the Amberly arsenal. So typical of the blend it shows, citrus and passionfruit with notes of cut grass making for a full on nasal assault. The palate jostles with apples, kiwi fruit and refreshing lime flavours before a keen line of refreshing acid on the finish. Perfect territory for salt and pepper squid or any spicy Asian dishes.

Winemaker's Notes

Brilliant and bright, the wine is pale straw in colour with green tinges. Highly aromatic, the nose displays the classic characteristics of cut grass, lime leaf and lemongrass. The palate bursts with crisp and lively flavours of granny smith apples, kiwifruit and lime zest. Refreshing acidity is complemented by fruit sweetness to provide a palate of good length.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
The wine has notable structure and grip, which are positives, for they support the kiwi fruit, citrus and stone fruit flavours, the grip coming from the minerality. that runs through from start to finish.

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Pale quartz; as might be expected, has a firmer structure than the Sauvignon Blanc, with some minerality evident, but the main theme is the delicious sweet citrus fruit, the finish crisp.

Bright, clean and fresh, with more or less equal contributions of gooseberry, citrus and tropical aromas and flavours. Gold medal Perth Wine Show '09.
