While Marlborough may well be considered the beating heart of Savvy production in New Zealand, Central Otago is muscling in on the act with wines like this from Amisfield. This is a more complex take on the variety with punchy fruit and flinty intensity as well as pronounced acid length. Perfect for imbibing with Oysters this has plenty of citrus and tropical fruit, good weight and balance.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Pale straw in colour.

Nose: Aromatics typical of a lively New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc displaying freshly cut pineapple and pink grapefruit notes.

Palate: Bright, vibrant, fresh aromatics complimented by texture and depth on the palate with a mineral finish. The wild fermented barrel component adds another dimension of ripe stone fruit aromatics with subtle creamy notes and texture across the palate with refined minerality.

A fuller-bodied sauvignon that shows lime and lemon crush, candied melon fruits and a touch of savoury, biscuity oak influence too. The palate s gently creamy nougat and marzipan sit nicely amid lime and melon fruit flavours.

Central Otago ain't the first stop for savvy but Amisfield has made a good fist of this savoury, flinty style. Preserved lemons and spice, lots of flinty minerals and some roundness through the palate, nice textural work and balanced melon fruit finish.
