There's no mention of Chardonnay on the label of the 2006 vintage but there's no question of this Gisborne wine's varietal origin. Barrel-fermented and lees-stirred weekly, it is fat and soft, with stone-fruit, toffee, caramel and toast flavours in a very upfront style.

The 2004 vintage is a light-yellow Gisborne Chardonnay with butterscotch and honey notes. Fermented and matured for 10 months in all-new French oak casks, it's a peachy, oaky wine, toasty and powerful, but shows a slight lack of freshness and vibrancy.
