Cracka Review

Colombard is the 'love child' of two French grapes - gouais blanc and chennin blanc. When it is blended chardonnay it shows aromas and flavours of passionfruit, gooseberries and mango, with a good hit of lemon citrus. It's all delivered on a medium-bodied palate, with balanced acidity, a touch of creaminess to the mouthfeel, and a soft, gentle, refreshing finish. Ideal with Summer salads or light poultry dishes.

Winemaker's Notes

A pale straw yellow with appealing green hues this wine has attractive lifted tropical and citrus notes. On the medium to full palate lemony citrus characters with some passionfruit and peach precede a hint of creaminess and a long clean finish.

James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Fresh, pleasant unoaked chardonnay, light-bodied but in no way forced. Astonishing golds (Berlin and Concours Mondial).

Peter Forrestal (2008 Vintage) says
This has honest, uncomplicated yet intense fruity flavours featuring ripe tropical characters, is soft, smooth and fine with a pleasing lingering finish. Members of the tasting panel commented on its 'textural viscosity' and 'elegant texture'. Unusual for such a cheap white

Light straw-green; the fresh and clean bouquet announces a tangy, citrussy palate with well above-average flavour and length, augmented by lingering acidity. Excellent value.
